Research

 

Whilst utilising the normal research avenues, Towns Alive also uses the results from three powerful surveys to focus participants minds, this is achieved by drawing attention to the views and uses to which those surveyed put their town.

Apart from their use in the Towns Alive programme, towns have used these surveys over a period of two to three years to establish what progress and movement is being made by a town......

 

Customer Visitor Survey

·     Conducted in the town and surrounding area

·     'Face to face' interview, self complete or via the Internet

·     Over 84 questions examining:

o       Attractions, Amenities and Accessibility

o       Uses people make of their town

o       Likes and Dislikes

o       Evening economy

o       Shopper movement and spend

o       Competing Towns

 

 

Young Persons Survey

·     Conducted in schools and youth clubs, etc.

·     Self complete via hard copy or the Internet

·     Survey examines:

o       Uses young people make of their town

o       Likes and Dislikes

o       Sport and leisure activity

o       Spend in their town

o       Spend in competing towns

o       Transportation, and their views on it

o       Views about future developments

 

 

Business Survey

·     Conducted in local businesses

·     'Face to face', self complete or via the Internet

·     Examining:

o       Relationship between businesses and town

o       Business history and background

o       Impact of town upon businesses

o       Business support available

o       Trading performance

o       Employment and premises

o       Sales and marketing

o       Transport and accessibility

 

 This first phase then naturally leads on to the second - DEVELOPMENT
